Once upon a time, an 8 year old girl in Philadelphia asked for Mr. Microphone for Christmas. She set up her radio and turntable by her window, so she could aim the speaker at the street below her bedroom. That girl did many “radio” shows for her neighborhood, and they were kind enough to let her.
Many moons later, she would head off to college at SUNY Buffalo State, and while her major was Broadcasting, she learned the most from getting behind the board of WBNY 91.3 FM- the college radio station. A short internship at WGR 55/97 Rock led to more opportunities, and air shifts. That led to an invitation to join mornings at a successful Rock Station in Fresno, CA. That station was the legendary KRZR. After a dozen years at KRZR, corporate McRadio made some unfortunate decisions that ended a solid run, and ultimately ended an excellent radio station.
All was not lost. A smaller company decided to put another Rock Station on the air in Fresno. KKBZ 105.1 The Blaze was born, and a familiar voice was back on the morning airwaves. Fast forward a few years, and a move to the Talk format seemed to make a lot of sense. Enter KMJ AM and FM. By that point, a change in scenery was in order. After a move to Arkansas, and a brief hiatus from the airwaves, the universe righted itself. Stream Jen weekdays from 9am-2pm on Oldies 101.3 at the link below:
